Exciting Lent Course for the Parish of Bewsborough.

This year, during the five weeks of Lent leading up to Easter, we shall be arranging Lent Groups around our villages to explore vital matters of belief and Christian Faith.
Friends meeting in these groups will be encouraged to think about some of the challenging thoughts expressed in one of the recent Lectures about Martin Luther held in Canterbury:-
The importance and meaning of the Creeds

Last year saw 500 years since Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the Church Door in Wittenberg, Germany, sparking off the Protestant Reformation. In our groups we shall have a close look at what Professor Frances Young had to say about the Creeds in her Luther lecture, and we have devised some topics and thoughts for discussion to stimulate our thinking. After all, a thinking church is a believing church!

Details of the places and times of the Groups are listed below, so we look forward to seeing you.

Event:  ignite - D
Date:  Mon, February 26, 2018
Time:  7pm
Place:  St Mary's Church, Dover
Details:

It’s church – but not as you know it!

At its very heart, Ignite-D is about forming relationships; it’s about joining in Christ’s mission to heal the broken-hearted (Isaiah 61). It’s about meeting Christ’s people – wherever or whoever they are, whatever’s going on in their lives. It’s about reaching out to those who feel they are on the fringes of society, showing individuals that they are loved (by us and by God) and extending Christ’s unconditional love and welcome to them. In the midst of chaotic and broken lives, Ignite-D aims to provide a safe place to meet each other, to question, to explore and to heal.

  • Services will be held in St Mary’s Church from 7pm-8.30pm on Mondays from April 9th 2018
  • At least the first 20-30 mins of each service will be fellowship with food
  • The service will then follow a magazine-style format of short sections.

 You’re Invite-D!!!

Monday 26th February 2018,

7-8.30pm at St Mary’s Church, Dover

To get the party started, we’re holding an Ignite-D taster for all those in the Dover Deanery who want to find out more about this type of ministry. It will follow the same format as a regular session, though the content will be different. The team are looking forward to being able to share their passion for this new adventure with you, so (for catering purposes!) do let us know if you’re able to join us.

WHERE

Our aim is to visit as many primary and secondary schools, communities and streets as possible, sharing the love of God, during this exciting week of intentional mission outreach.

WHO

We want to share this love with as many of the people and communities of Dover as possible.

Our desire and vision is for all local churches to be involved, working with other mission partners as we bring the impact of God's love to this town.

WHY

Historically Dover has been the "Gateway to England", it has been witness to wars and been a thoroughfare for people coming and going. Many of these changes in Dover have brought about a lack of confidence and self-esteem in its residents and as a result we see broken people with a lack of hope, feeling unloved and perhaps fear for their future. Only 2% of the population really go to any kind of church on a Sunday!

We are convinced that people outside or not connected to the church environment remain open to spiritual answers to life’s challenges. We want to provide them with a spiritual experience that is culturally accessible and directly tackles some of the challenges commonly faced. Offering spaces and events where difficult questions arising from significant life-challenges can be addressed; relationships of trust built.

Our aim is to bring about life transformations, where an encounter with the redeeming love of Christ and a new Christian identity can be forged.

Our mission priority will be to serve the needs of families, young people and the broken-hearted, those experiencing significant personal difficulties through addiction, broken relationships and social deprivation.

This mission is just the start of God’s ongoing work in our town!

WHEN

Mission Week - Monday 19th March to Saturday 24th March 2018.

There will be training for all who get involved:

Thursday March 15th : 19:00 – 22:00 - St Mary’s Castro - Training Session 1

Friday March 16th : 19:00 – 22:00 - St Mary’s Castro - Training Session 2
